With all do respect, United states lost this war long ago and not just militarily, but economically and politically.

The fact that israel no longer exercises, the same amount of influences in the past and the majority of the world is on iran's side, particularly the global south, Iran has already won.

At the end of the day regardless of what will happen, the pendulum of power has swung from West to East and from Arab to Asiatic Islamic influence fluence.

They are arrogant and racist. They keep feeling that their racial superiority should cause these savage brown people to bow before the greatness and whiteness of America. Israel has same problem vis a vis its neighbors. They can’t fathom they have been out fought, out thought, and out maneuvered by non westerners.

I understand your point well, but what you fail to distinguish in your argument is the margin group,-> the left‑wing elite — >versus the broader group, meaning the people who actually lean left. Yes, the left‑wing elite has for a long time used leftist ideology to advance its own interests, and those interests are very harmful to the rest of the population, not only to brown minorities but to everyone.

What you avoid acknowledging or understanding is that people who lean politically center‑right tend to see themselves as superior to other “races,” and it’s not just the elite who think this way — voters cast their ballots based on this very ideology. The current president of the United States was elected precisely on this mandate in the last election as well as in the 2016 election.

Even though I believe your argument contains many valid points, I can’t help noticing that you’re engaging in the same kind of projective style of argumentation that has become increasingly common in public discussions in recent years.

Tony Na's avatar

You blanket statement re: centrr right is wrong. There are numerous black, brown red and yellow in addition to white people who lean right. How do you justify your statement given these facts? You cant because it a form a racism regardless of color.

I’m retired but worked (CNC machinery) for many years with mostly immigrants from all over the world in Chicago. Vietnam, Mexico, Assyrians from Iraq, Jews from the collapsing Soviet Union, Indian Muslims from Gujarat and many other places. Most that I worked with in my building were Vietnamese, Mexican and Assyrians. Excellent people with traditional values. I knew them well since they worked nearby and I’d often ask them about their former countries and what they thought of America.

All of them were shocked by the amount of crime in Chicago and by the fact that most of it was by blacks who are about a third of the city. They often said they had no negative feelings about blacks before coming here since they’d never known any but sure do now. Once I was talking to a neighbor from Turkey in my northwest side neighborhood who said he’d been here 18 years and had no bad feelings about them when he arrived but for his first 10 years he worked as a cab driver and had such dreadful experiences with them that he’s hated them ever since. So are all these people I knew from all over the world simply racists?

These Bantu videos are by a black Nigerian from the Igbo tribe in the south who’s appalled by how primitive and dangerous black Africa is. Many would say he’s racist for pointing this out but the problem is that what he says is true.

Many people in America are non-white and many in the Middle East, like the Palestinians, Iranians and Assyrians, are white. I worked (CNC machinery) in Chicago for many years with many Assyrians from Iraq who considered themselves white and also said the Arabs are white. Condemning “whiteness!” as the cause of the world’s problems is a good way to make this disastrous situation even worse.

MB14's avatar

From my personal experience there’s two types of whiteness, the so called Anglo-Saxon race, green/blue eyes, white hair, these are pure white Caucasians and in the political sphere it starts from the near center all the way to the far right, they tend to think that they are better, smarter and that they have earned their privilege so they have that right to claim it as their own. Inside the “white pure Caucasians” the only group that believe all humans are equal are mostly those who align with left and more likely the far left. Then there is Arab white, who do consider them self white as well, and they are white in my opinion but are ousted from broader whiteness as they are included in the same group as the brown people who are considered less.

Seva's avatar

“and they are white in my opinion but are ousted from broader whiteness as they are included in the same group as the brown people who are considered less.”

You ignore the fact that the left, which dominates American institutions and culture, classifies people of the Middle East as “brown” for the sake of political gain just as they do with Hispanics. I’ve known many Mexicans who are as white as I am and even the president of Mexico is white yet the left labels Hispanics as “brown.” Why? To increase their base and to single out the white race as uniquely evil and the source of evil in the world. Basically the left traded class for race and called it Critical Race Theory aka “Woke.” Their goal is to incite white guilt to generate support for things like reparations and equity aka race based equal outcomes. Upper class, Woke white leftists would rather be boiled in oil than admit it but they obviously don’t believe blacks are as intelligent as other races and therefore the only way to achieve equal outcomes is to wage war on meritocracy and replace it with equity. All must be equal in America. It’s not the right that dumbed down our schools, even our medical schools. That has been totally a leftist project.

If you don’t have an Anglo Saxon name in America and are not from Europe or are Muslim you are a hated non white in America. I am by no means woke or like identity politics. But in America whiteness means something different than in let’s say Turkey or Iran. I can’t stand woke virtue signaling but it is clear that we are dealing with a racist American elite who can’t tolerate negotiations on equal footing with the savages as they believe Iran to be.

Tony Na's avatar

Americans dont believe Iranians are savages. Americans with any knowledge and experience believe the ruling regime are savages. Regardless, the Iranian leaders lie and cheat so IMO there is no longer any reason to negotiate.

If America is so racist why are the brown Indians the wealthiest ethnic group in America? It’s true that many consider the Palestinians, Arabs and Iranians savages but they also despise the Russians who are as white as I am and America/NATO has been trying to get rid of Putin and destroy Russia for the past 4 years just as they are now trying to destroy Iran. And if America is so racist how did Obama win two terms as president?

Go to US reservations and see how most native Americans live.

I have a close friend who is Black. She is 72, college educated and a friendly person, she has suffered her whole life from various ways that prejudice is applied to dark skinned people. Racism is very much alive in the US.

Farzad1976's avatar

Ps Obama won because of the great economic collapse of 2008 that happened rapidly and Bush being most unpopular president in polling history at that point. Mccain also looked unhinged in his response. He was also a very skillful candidate who benefited from opposition to Iraq war. The economic collapse created a wave for Democrats. You can be racist and in a two man election especially under duress favor a slicker minority candidate over an old white candidate who was seen as a Republican incumbent.

Farzad1976's avatar

It isn’t just America. It is entirety of the west. Russia actually makes my point they are white but not white enough. They are eastern in their church and slavic ethnically. The Northern and Western Europeans and their descendants are dedicated racists in the sense they are obsessed with it. There is a faction that don’t accept Catholics or Armenians or Italians as White enough but when it suits them they will incorporate them in alliance. Indians they despise like they despise Iranians. The reason so many immigrants are needed in west is their population is collapsing and they can’t pay their debts without a large worker/consumer/and tax base. It has nothing to do with morality of west but forestalling the eventual collapse of west.

First-

Thank you Trita Parsi for providing insights otherwise wholly unavailable. This is another really helpful piece for those of us trying to gain a better understanding of the actual mechanics of the conflict.

I’ll have to look more closely at the Federation for Defense of Democracies. Appears it is a rather insidious organization posing as an institution for societal betterment.

Ngungu's avatar

Here is a start for you.

Foundation for the Defense of Democracies, originated as a pro-Israel group in 2002, funded by 3 rightwing Jewish donors, Adelson, Marcus, and Singer: “FDD’s chief funders have been drawn almost entirely from American Jews who have a long history of funding pro-Israel organizations.” The FDD's research and advocacy have centered on the Middle East and in particular on conflicts and issues that impinge on Israel. And its positions have closely tracked those of the Likud party and its leader, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu—not just on the Iran deal, but on the conflict between the Israelis and the Palestinians and the desirability of a two-state solution.

It is a neocon warmongering think-tank with a back door to the Oval Office. http://mondoweiss.net/2017/10/neocons-netanyahu-establishment/

David Albright is the president and founder of the Institute for Science and International Security (ISIS), a think tank that dubs itself “the good ISIS” and whose work on nuclear proliferation issues has helped shape policy discourse while at the same time provoking intense disagreement and criticism. https://militarist-monitor.org/profile/david-albright/

A notable example of Albright’s controversial work is a http://isis-online.org/isis-reports/detail/is-iran-mass-producing-advanced-centrifuges he coauthored with Olli Heinonen of the neoconservative https://rightweb.irc-online.org/profile/foundation_for_defense_of_democracies/ that questioned whether Iran was “mass producing advanced gas centrifuges” in violation of international agreements, a claim that would buttress President https://rightweb.irc-online.org/profile/trump_donald/‘s antagonism to Iran and opposition to the 2015 nuclear agreement. The basis for the article was a mistranslation from Persian of a statement by the head of Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization. According to Albright and Heinonen, this official said that Iran had “initiated” mass production of centrifuges; in fact, he only stated that Tehran had the “capacity” to do so.

And this is a very enlightening article about the current war.

The White House, apparently, copy-pasted intelligence from an Israel controlled lobbying group, Foundation for Defense of Democracies (FDD,) to justify an American war against Iran. https://philharper.substack.com/p/proof-israeli-lobby-ghostwrote-the

When you put the FDD’s [June 2025 report](https://www.fdd.org/analysis/2025/06/19/iranian-and-iranian-backed-attacks-against-americans-1979-present/) side-by-side with the White House’s [March 2026 statement](https://www.whitehouse.gov/articles/2026/03/the-iranian-regimes-decades-of-terrorism-against-american-citizens/), the evidence is undeniable. Someone at The White House copy-pasted the lobbyist document almost word-for-word.

Ladies, Gentlemen and fools, introducing to the world stage, The one the only, Donald John Trump’s seen far to often his famous and almost never been seen before, illusion of greatness!! This current show is just a greater scale of his infamous “four casino flop” where he defied all logic , wiped out billions of dollars of OPM but still walked away with money. This current version provides him more OPM, he is walking away with more of OPM, and he has thrown in wanton death and destruction. Yes, he is a genius of the highest order but only compared to the fools that follow him to their own destruction. This time he has not screwed Atlantic City, this time he is screwing the world!!

The FDD actually knows what it is doing. Their goal is not to resolve the conflict, but to continue it and perhaps expand it. It has long been Israel’s goal to have the region in turmoil while it expands Greater Israel, making its neighbors either vassal states or failed states.

Research says them at these tankers the Iranians are filling are basically floating storage, and they too have a limit, somewhere between 12-76 days depending on who’s estimating. Then there’s really nowhere to go. There’s also other issues at hand:

Revenue Loss: The U.S. blockade is already costing Tehran approximately $435 million to $500 million daily in lost economic activity.

Hyperinflation: The Iranian rial has already collapsed to roughly 1.6 million per dollar. Losing all oil revenue could push inflation, currently near 50%, toward uncontrollable levels.

Import Paralysis: Iran relies on oil income to finance nearly $250 million in daily imports, including staples like grain and medicine. A storage-forced shutdown would effectively end its ability to pay for these essential goods.

So, they are feeling the pain, but the ‘silver bullet’ is a bit further away than we’ve been lead to believe in recent days. If they are losing money at this rate, not getting the imports they need to survive, and their money is worth nothing, something’s got to give, it depends on congress and their patience once they return on may 11 from another recess. It also depends on the will of the Iranian people themselves, who have suffered more than anyone in this endless situation. Last thing of note is that President Trump has mentioned several times he wants samples of the nuclear dust from the site of the attack last year on their underground site. If the isotope is identified as coming from somewhere unexpected, such as an ally or from the USA itself, we have another layer to this nuanced conundrum.

It appears that even the Israeli mouthpiece has gotten the message and is now letting people publish news critical of Israeli Apartheid. I guess they have seen the writing on the wall, how toxic is unquestioned support for Israel and AIPAC is and the NY Times is also moving away from it.

The President has to let the light shine in and listen to other points of view, away from FDD. Israel is a lost cause; the sooner he realises it, the better for all of us.

Rose's avatar

It’s time to change our perspective. Having lived and taught school in Tehran for several years and being friends with many wonderful Iranian people I realize I am probably biased. I found that even while my Iranian friends knew that America was USING Iran (from 1953 to present) to gain more oil industry and establish their U.S. footprint against communism, they (still today) want to be America’s friend. Yet, after the 1979 hostage-taking Americans seem only to be about revenge - make Iran pay. That’s 47 years ago! Isn’t it time to switch gears and stop regarding Iran as ENEMY? An ENEMY is someone to be subjugated or destroyed. How can that point of view ever lead to actual PEACE.

Tony Na's avatar

This supposed expert is typically shortsighted and biased. Gas and energy prices even if they stay high until the end of 2026 still represent the short term when compared to 47 years of costly terroism by Iran.

With the blickade Iran will capitulate without income. If it takes an extra month or even more, it will hsppen.

Secondly, Iran no longer has the weapons to terrorize the middle east nor attack the US and Europe. Additionally without funding from Iran, Gezbollah and the Houtis will cease to be tentacles of Iran's terroist state.

The world including the MidEast will find ways to resupply the crude and other crude products not flowing through Hormuz. Already, 25% of the world's 20%crude flowing through Hormuz as been replaced by a combination of efforts by multiole energy suppliers.

The hardliners in iran cant keep control without revenue. Even true believers must need money to live. The Army will be first and subsequently lower level IRGC will desert.

The MidEast Arab countries have now experienced the terror of Iran. They see the value aligning with Israel.

Squeeze Irans country revenue and the personal income and assets of its leasers and soon the pig will squeel in pain.

The majority of the world is not on Irans side just because the appeasers in Europe dont like the war.

The other commenter here are either clueless or trolls from Russia. China or some other disinformation source.
