So it's getting serious...

For the last year or so, I have increasingly paid attention to Substack and am tremendously grateful to all of you who have followed me here. Unlike other social media platforms, I have found it much healthier and much more resistant to manipulation and vitriol.

A real and healthy community can be formed here with meaningful exchanges of analysis and perspectives.

So I have decided to get serious: I am going to take my investment in Substack to the next level.

As you know, my analysis aims to cut through the social media noise, the mainstream media’s lazy repetition of spin, and governments’ use of misinformation. I rely not just on the news but mainly on engaging with the newsmakers, based on the extensive global network I have developed over the past 25 years.

Going forward, all my writing will remain free. I do not believe in paywalling the analysis.

But for the smart and busy members of the community who want to go deeper behind the headlines through a paid subscription, I will hold monthly or semimonthly exclusive Zoom briefings/Q&As, as well as occasional expert panel discussions.

I know you are busy. I know you want real news and analysis, not the tired and superficial frames advanced by the mainstream media and government spokespersons. And I know you want an analysis that also points to a path forward, rather than just resigning to the doom and gloom.

As a paid subscriber, you will help me build a community for those who want an edge in understanding and navigating global events. For those who need to understand the other side, rather than relying on the one-dimensional depictions of the “others” we are often fed.

The exclusive Zoom briefings and Q&As will provide an opportunity to go deeper for those who need to connect the dots, see the bigger picture, and understand where we likely will be a week, a month, and a year from now.
